Mitzvah Day at Cat Depot a Purrfect Success
Purrs to Temple Sinai who visited Cat Depot as a part of their “Mitzvah Day” program. In the Jewish faith, a mitzvah refers to an act of kindness. At Temple Sinai, congregation members volunteer regularly to make a difference in our community. Recently twenty adults and children donated their time to clean windows, sweep pods and cuddle Cat Depot’s cats and kittens. Thank you to Temple Sinai for all your hard work. Come back soon!
The Pines Residents Cuddle Cat Depot Cats
Fur and cuddles were easy to find when residents of the Pines of Sarasota visited Cat Depot. On Friday, March 18th, two busloads of seniors arrived at Cat Depot to give attention and love to the 125+ cats and kittens waiting to find their forever homes. The lucky felines enjoyed chin scratches and warm laps for two hours while the residents toured the facility. The Pines is just one of several community groups who visit Cat Depot regularly to socialize the felines awaiting adoption. All groups are welcome! Please contact Alicia McBratney, education and volunteer coordinator at aliciam@catdepot.org to schedule a visit.
Volunteer Appreciation - Oh What A Night!
Volunteers were wined and dined in an effort to say thank you for the thousands of hours they have given to help Cat Depot in their efforts to save lives.

Into the night came fosters, welcome center receptionists, transporters, committee chairs and members, cat care givers, cleaners of endless litter boxes, socializers, grant writers, cat impersonators and everything in between. The staff prepared food, served beverages and later, handed out 60 prizes to lucky winners.
A delicious spread with something yummy for everyone was lead by none other than volunteer, Charlie Carson. While volunteers were not supposed to work, this chef decided it was in our best interest if he led the efforts. And, after tasting his culinary delights, we all agreed! Charlie was assisted by staff members, Alicia McBratney, Lauren Sears, Mary Jo Weidrick and Ann Marie Hansen. Go Team!

Passing out libations were Greg Geweye, Tim Weeks and Kim Perez, and greeting everyone at the door were Kent Weaver, Michelle Furci and co-founder, Linda Slavin. Shelley Thayer and Lucy Lu agreed with everyone that the Sunset Bridge Band was the best yet! They really set the stage for fun and sweet music. Lucy Lu, a recovering abused cat, sat and listed to every note. She is hoping that volunteers and musicians, A.J. Topp and Gracie Grieshop come back soon. Thank you dynamic duo for blessing everyone with your beautiful sound.
Volunteers, If you were not able to attend the event, mark your calendar for next year, when, National Volunteer Appreciation Month (April) swings back around.

Donors - Our sincere thanks to the individuals and businesses who helped make this evening a success. Prizes, food and beverages were all made possible through the generosity of many.
Thanks again everyone, for joining us for an evening to honor YOU, our incredibly kind hearted volunteers. See you at the Depot! See more photos of this event.
