Now You See Me, Now You Don’t!

June 4 – June 8 | 8-10 years of age

This week’s campers will be introduced to the art of camouflage and how animals use camouflage in various ways. Campers will be able to:

  • Learn about different animals that use camouflage, such as the leopard, brown vine snake, and the owl butterfly
  • Learn about different ways animals use camouflage
  • Create their own camouflage “animals”
  • Interact with Cat Depot cats while learning about domestic cats and their “hiding” abilities
  • Play trivia games about camouflage

 

Birds of Prey

June 11 – June 15 | 11-12 years of age

Big or small, birds of prey are fascinating creatures! Campers will learn about different types of raptors and what sets them apart from other birds. Campers will be able to:

  • Learn about birds of prey that live in our area
  • Play trivia games about birds of prey
  • Discover the different body parts of raptors
  • Learn the difference between birds and birds of prey
  • Interact with Cat Depot cats while learning about how feral cats interact with local wildlife

 

Endangered Animals

June 18 – June 22 | 13-14 years of age

This week’s campers will learn about endangered, critically endangered, and extinct animals around the world. They will also be able to learn how they can get involved with organizations around the world to protect these animals. Campers will be able to:

  • Learn about the different levels of endangerment
  • Learn about different organizations that help endangered animals
  • Create posters representing an endangered animal
  • Play trivia games about endangered animals
  • Interact with Cat Depot cats while learning about wild cats’ issues in nature 

 

Sea Life

June 25 – June 29 | New This Year! 2nd Session for 8-10 year olds

Florida is filled with many types of sea life, and campers this week will be excited to learn about what lies beneath the water! Campers will be able to:

  • Observe animals in their underwater habitat
  • Learn what it takes to make a good underwater environment
  • Create posters/pamphlets of their favorite marine animal
  • Play games about marine life
  • Interact with Cat Depot cats while learning about domestic cats and their “love” of fish

 

Native Animals – Career Camp

July 9 – 13 | 15-18 years of age

What types of animals can be found around Florida, and what does it take to take care of them? This week’s group will be able to learn more about the animals found in our own backyard (sometimes literally!). Career Campers will be able to: 

  • Interact with local animals, such as various birds, manatees, and turtles
  • Interact with Cat Depot cats and learn what it takes to run a shelter and rescue
  • Learn about different animal-related careers at various colleges in the area, such as USF and New College of Florida
  • Observe and interact with cats in the Rose Durham Cat Care Clinic and Shelter Medical Center

 

Camp Hours for All Sessions: 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. each day

Cost Per Session: $175.00, 2nd camper discount: 15% off.

Registration fee includes one Critter Camp T-shirt and one healthy snack per day. Additional T-shirts can be purchased for $12 each.
