Communications Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Communications Specialist to provide administrative support in the Communications Department. Position includes: website maintenance, social media management and reporting, timely promotion of relevant animal-related information, photography and videography (including editing), some graphics design (Photoshop or Publisher knowledge a plus), and special event, fundraising/development, and press/media relations assistance.

Consistent overall branding and communications such as signage, forms, protocols, printing, mailings and cross training with positions in the Communications Department, such as backup support for cash management and front desk, donor correspondence and donor database expected. Candidate must have experience in website administration, a strong social media background, and oral and written skills including creative writing for newsletters, blogs, e-blasts, press releases, and donor solicitations; excellent proofreading skills, and ability to work independently, be proactive, innovative and have the ability to think "outside the box", and meet deadlines.

Veterinary Technician

We are seeking an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Technician with a minimum of two years' experience for surgery, dentals, intake, ordering, inventory, tracking, and cleaning. We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Veterinarian to join our team. The successful candidate will provide cutting-edge medicine, forward-thinking leadership, innovation, and best practices in our beautifully appointed 11,000+ square foot facility for both our shelter medical department and our adjacent full-service affordable clinic.


  • A minimum of five years’ experience, with demonstrated career development.
  • A passion for cats with strong understanding of feline behavior and medicine. Affiliation with AAHA, AAFP, HSUS, Best Friends or ASPCA initiatives a plus.
  • Strong surgery, dentistry skills, internal medicine, and critical care skills.  Knowledge and experience in disease control, preferably in a shelter environment.
  • Interest and ability to participate in occasional rescue work.
  • Ability to handle the large volume, fast paced, multi-task environment of a growing and respected free-roaming shelter and clinic.
  • Ability to work some weekend hours, occasional on-call services, and willingness to be flexible to the changing needs of the operation. 
  • Professionalism at all times, including an enthusiastic, positive, even keeled demeanor.
  • Must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in FL with current DEA license.
