Cat Depot Honors Volunteers with Presidential Service Award

Cat Depot honored eight volunteers with the President’s Volunteer Service Award on Saturday, April 27, at a Volunteer Appreciation party at Cat Depot. Each volunteer gave over 500 hours of service in 2012 earning them the Gold Level Volunteer Service Award. Award recipients were Jeff Donahue, Marianna Basile, Martha McKlveen, Bill Clack, Marianne Hight, Mary Budd, Nancy Hambleton and Nancy Fox.

“We call them volunteers, but to our felines and Cat Depot team members, volunteers are heroes . . . heroes that help us save lives,” said Corey Roscoe, volunteer and education manager.

In 2012, Cat Depot volunteers contributed 18,162.5 hours of service. Cat Depot averages 1,500 volunteer hours per month with over 140 active monthly center volunteers. From small to tall,
young and old, permanent or visiting residents, volunteers help Cat Depot with cleaning, laundry, dishes, animal transport, off-site events, fundraising, clinic assistance, medical data entry, reception, retail sales, cat socialization, adoption assistance, foster families, food bank, coin bank, photography, food prep, and education/lectures.
