We all know cats can see better than us in the dark, but what about their hearing?
Cats have cone-shaped external ears (pinnae) that can swivel around 180 degrees, giving them a sort of surround sound!
Cat can hear wounds from 45-65,000 Hz. We her sounds from 64-23,000 Hz. That means they can hear sounds lower than we can - and much higher!
Their uniquely shaped ears allow them to easily locate prey, or hear us open a can of food. It also means that if something sounds a bit loud to us, it's very loud to them. Animals can suffer hearing damage just like we do, so it's important to be mindful of loud sounds, banging things, and music.
