Adoptions Manager 

General Position Summary

Adoptions Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the adoption department. Directs and manages adoption staff, and assures adequate staffing of department. Assigns duties, supervises and evaluates staff and ensures the effectiveness of the department’s programs. Manages adoptions program, adoption-related events. Collaborates with the Communications Department on promotions and marketing strategies designed to increase pet adoptions. Oversees recruitment and overall responsibilities of volunteers assigned to the adoptions department. This position is a big-picture, problem solver and creative thinking position, with a working knowledge of cats, behavior, and husbandry.

Cat Advocacy

  • Participate in the management of adoptable cats’ physical and mental well-being, cleanliness, and care. Communicate with the shelter medical department and cat care to ensure coordinate best practices.
  • Monitor the health of animals on a daily basis and identify health problems or conditions (medical or behavioral) immediately to the veterinary technician
  • Spot check all adoption areas in a timely manner to ensure cleanliness and neatness.
  • Learn the personalities and unique characteristics and behaviors of all cats available for adoption.
  • Ensure staff and volunteers participate in leash walking, clicker training, and behavioral enrichment programs. Be able to train and demonstrate proficiency.

·       Education and Communications

  • Advance education and knowledge of cat behavior and medical conditions of adoption counselors, volunteer, visitors, adopters, and other staff and the general public.
  • Promote the humane and compassionate treatment of animals.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience in a supervisory or management position in a complementary field.
  • 3+ years in a hands-on animal field.
  • Ability to ensure the practice of animal health and welfare according to policies and procedures of Cat Depot.
  • Ability to deal tactfully, effectively and consistently with staff, volunteers and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate the English language effectively in oral and written form.
  • Knowledge of animal breeds, characteristics, behavior, health, and social skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Good driving record, valid Florida drivers’ license, and insurance.
  • Ability and willingness to work variable days and hours to meet the needs of the adoptions and Cat Depot. This includes weekends, evenings, and holidays. Overtime is discouraged with approved exceptions.

Veterinary Technician 

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or CVT with a minimum of two years' experience for surgery, dentals, intake, ordering, inventory, tracking, and cleaning.
